Posted: May 19, 2020
The Washington Post is looking for a senior producer to shape and elevate feature and enterprise podcast stories. This senior producer for features will work with our team of audio producers, and reporters and editors throughout the newsroom, to identify and execute the ideas that will become The Post’s best audio narratives.
The ideal candidate should have expertise in story development and executing sound-rich, long-form audio. In addition to the ability to identify stories that make the most of audio, this person will craft reporting plans, capture audio, and create elegant scripts and sound design.
This senior producer will work on a wide range of stories from short, non-narrated features to standalone miniseries, including duties for Post Reports. The strongest candidate will have a journalism background, along with experience in editing and producing podcasts. Knowledge of sound design and how sound enhances storytelling is a must, and proficiency in sound engineering or audience development would be a plus.
This position is based in our Washington newsroom and is not eligible for remote work.
Candidates should upload a resume and cover letter (as pdfs) to our jobs portal by June 10. Please include, as links to audio files in a pdf, at least two examples of your published work with an explanation of your role in the production.
