Managing Producer
A full time Senior Producer position
Fully remote: working with a USA-based team at Post Script Media.
Salary range: $90,000 to $125,000 (yearly rate) - subject to experience plus health insurance
Post Script Media is looking for an experienced managing producer to help build the next phase of growth for our company. This role supports the production of our current slate of podcasts, which explore the intersections of climate change with technology, the economy, business, and culture. The managing producer will also play a critical role in developing our new slate of shows.
We're looking for someone with deep experience in audio journalism who loves managing the process of podcast production and managing the talent bringing these stories to life. This requires working collaboratively with our producers, audio engineers, and journalists from story conception through the finished product.
Post Script Media creates podcasts for a changing planet. We are developing an original slate of shows that will connect climate change and environmental themes to a wide range of topics: business, travel, economics, pop culture, and more. We also develop shows for our media, non-profit, and corporate partners around these themes.
Examples of our podcast productions:
The Carbon Copy: a weekly narrative news show about the changing planet
Catalyst, with Shayle Kann: a weekly deep-dive interview show on money and tech trends driving climate solutions.
The Big Switch: a narrative show from Columbia University about decarbonizing the global economy.
The managing producer will have a unique combination of skills in both audio production and process management. This role requires working with our executive team, the production team, the talent, and our partners seamlessly in order to execute our vision across different shows.
This is a permanent, full-time staff position with generous benefits and vacation time. You will report to both the executive editor and CEO of Post Script Media.
Your week includes:
- Manage the production calendars of multiple podcasts, and oversee the company-wide production process and workflow.
- Solve problems for our producers.
- Run pitch meetings and vet ideas.
- Work with a diverse group of producers, editors, and partners to develop engaging episodes from conception to execution.
- Work with our partners and clients to ensure their goals are being met with their podcasts.
- Take part in show development as we create and launch our new slate of podcasts.
- Coordinate with executive editor and technical director to ensure audio quality and style meet our standards.
Your experience:
- At least five years of audio journalism experience, ideally with a focus on narrative audio.
- At least three years of experience in a production role.
- Experience managing diverse teams of producers and audio engineers.
- An interest in our areas of coverage: climate science, policy, technology, economics, etc.
- Experience producing audio or video under tight deadlines.
- You can work well remotely, alone or in distributed teams.
- A bonus: experience in business development and working with clients and advertisers.
