A full time Development Producer position at Gunpowder & Sky, Los Angeles CA, USA
Position Description Gunpowder & Sky was founded by Van Toffler, Floris Bauer, and Otter Media in 2016 as a new global studio focused on developing, producing, financing, and distributing feature films, series, channel brands, audio, and other entertainment formats.
Gunpowder & Sky seeks a Director of Audio Development and Production for our growing and dynamic division focused on the development, production, and sale of premium audio series.
Audio is a fast-growing part of G&S and central to the company’s strategy going forward. This role will build and expand on G&S’s market niche of music, documentaries and culturally relevant podcast series which includes Ghetto Gastro, Words + Music, and continuing to push deeper into music with unique series Shelved and Lighters In the Sky.
In addition, our highly-ranked scripted sci-fi series DUST is the premier destination for immersive science fiction audio stories in its 5th season; and our sister horror brand, Alter creates and adapts series. The new Director will be able to hit the ground running taking over a robust docket of series greenlit and in production, as well as a growing development slate.
Responsibilities: NOTE: This role is a development role. Candidates must have a strong track record in developing narratives from raw ideas, IP, and other sources. He/She must have crafted the storyline, episodic breakdown, attached talent, pitched and sold. This is not solely a producer role, but production skills in budgeting and production planning are a plus.
- Focus on development, packaging and sales of projects.
- Establish robust development pipeline process, with a focus on premium and commercial projects.
- Perform an active role in production and oversight of projects as needed, including executive producing some projects.
- Primary conduit to manage relationship with our first-look partner Audible.
- Build on and develop G&S’s reputation as an exciting and collaborative partner with talent.
- Work in collaboration with the current/physical production team, business affairs and PR.
Qualifications:
- Track record in development and packaging of commercial audio series with emphasis on unscripted.
- High-functioning capabilities to oversee a development slate with multiple projects in production.
- Hands-on pre-production and production experience to assist with casting, talent, hiring producer, notes and other essential elements of building a series.
- Well-tuned editorial sense as project moves through post.
- Conduct business at a rapid pace in a fast-turnaround industry.
- Strong relationships with talent, agents, managers, and producers.
