What is Glow?
Glow’s mission is to create a world where content earns its value. We aim to empower podcasters to create media businesses, beginning with direct revenue from their listeners. Glow’s first product is the simplest solution for listeners to pay podcasters for premium content. A listener can subscribe to a premium podcast in under 15 seconds, right from the podcast player of their choice.
Podcasting is the fastest growing medium in the world. There are 750,000 podcasts today, and one in three Americans listen to podcasts regularly. Yet many podcasters lack a way to create a direct relationship with their listeners, and want solutions to offer premium content and take data-driven approaches to growing their podcasts. We are building Glow to enable podcasters to grow their content, audience, and revenue. We intend to help podcasters thrive making a living doing what they love, and to create a sustainable model for high-quality content.
Glow is a spinout of Pioneer Square Labs, and funded by a group of top-tier investors spanning technology, media, and music.
We are looking for a customer-focused engineering leader to help group our product and company. This is an opportunity to help build Glow from its earliest days, set the technology vision, and define and execute on our product roadmap. Glow will build an easy-to-use but comprehensive toolset that fits into the open but fragmented landscape of podcasting technology. The team will create elegant interfaces, imaginative solutions to difficult dev ops problems, integrations with other services, and bulletproof infrastructure to give podcasters and their listeners confidence.

You love delivering for customers, with strong customer empathy and a track record of building customer-facing products. You work iteratively, shipping often and measuring results. You enjoy a small team where bureaucracy is low but great communication and collaboration is essential. You don’t get hung up on the boundaries of front-end, back-end, dev ops – you do whatever it takes to deliver. You think in terms of architecture and love to stitch together all elements of the software lifecycle to deliver great software. You thrive in the ambiguity and activity of a startup environment.
Specifically, you have:
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience, including systems design, implementation, and operations
- Skill with developing highly intuitive customer experiences
- Experience with operations such as Heroku, AWS, test frameworks, and source code management
- Enthusiasm for mentoring other engineers
- Bonus points for experience with Python, Django, or Stripe
