Job Summary
BYUradio is looking for an organized, highly motivated, story-driven audio producer to assist in the production of Top of Mind, BYUradio’s premiere current issues podcast. As a Senior Producer, you would work with a talented and collaborative production team to shape, script and edit episodes, make assignments, mentor student producers, and ensure the show is delivering the highest quality storytelling possible. You should be a strong manager and coach; a kind, creative and deadline-oriented leader; and have experience in long-form journalism or documentary storytelling and working collaboratively in a team environment. This position will build on Top of Mind’s success as an in-depth, daily interview show as it transitions to a weekly, in-depth podcast integrating innovative types of audio storytelling.
Essential Functions
- Radio Program Development / Production
- Control all aspects of the creation, production, and development of one or more BYUradio program(s). Includes, but is not limited to:
- Develop episodes - Identifying topics, shaping narrative arc, selecting and vetting guests
- Write scripts
- Edit scripts in collaboration with Top of Mind team
- Guide student producers
- Produce and edit recorded interviews (will use studio microphone and mixing boards, Adobe Audition)
- Collaborate with post-production on episode sound design
- Write web descriptions
- Manage communication with episode guests
- Participate in ongoing evaluation and improvement of the show
- Create and manage episode timeline and production
- Podcast Marketing and Distribution
- Lead communication around marketing and distribution of podcast.
- Manage Top of Mind’s presence on BYUradio.org and podcast platforms. Maintain quality and consistency of podcast brand on all platforms.
- Work with BYUradio marketing to promote the shows on all available media, including web and social media
- Assist key stakeholders in the organization with discoverability efforts, to make the show as easy as possible to find on internal and external platforms and towards continued audience growth
- Work with BYU Broadcasting business intelligence team to monitor Top of Mind user data and identify opportunities for increased discoverability

Oversee selection of timely archival content for curated episodes of Top of Mind to air on 107.9 FM and Sirius XM 143

Education/Experience
Minimum required:
- 2 years' experience in radio journalism or documentary storytelling OR equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Must include a storytelling work sample as an attachment or by URL.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years' work experience in both audio production, scriptwriting, or other forms of storytelling.
