Narrative Audio Producer

A project or contract Producer position
Fully remote: working with a UK-based team at Adventures in Coffee Podcast.

Salary: £30.00 (hourly rate)

Are you an audio producer who loves coffee? Join us on the Adventures in Coffee podcast!

We are looking for a part-time audio producer to help us create engaging stories about the world of coffee.

We're an independent story-driven podcast on a mission to demystify the tasty and often confusing world of coffee in a fun, light-hearted way. We use our platform to tell stories that don’t often get heard or have been overlooked in traditional coffee and podcasting media.

We have done historical deep-dives into Jamaica's dark coffee past, cooked up tiramisus and whizzed them across London and busted many (and I mean, many!) a coffee myth.

You are a quick learner, have a good sense for narrative tension, can come up with plenty of ideas for making a range of topics entertaining in audio, can meet tight deadlines, and enjoy making people laugh!

Responsibilities

Driving the creation of new episodes, including:
Conceptualising story ideas
Recording and editing remote interviews
Scripting and supervising co-host narration
Crafting a final, polished episode
Publishing the episode

Requirements

Must have:

A strong curiosity in the world of coffee (but you don't need to be an expert or have any professional experience)
Journalism and/or professional storytelling experience (not necessarily in audio)
A strong desire to learn to make audio stories if you don't have audio experience
Available during European working hours
A strong grasp of English
You’re not afraid to learn new software
Powerful computer (16GB Ram minimum) with fast reliable wifi
Legal standing to work with us on a freelance basis

Nice to have:

Previous experience working with Descript
Professional audio journalism experience
Previous work experience in the coffee world

Time and money

We can offer £800 per episode for Series 4 (August-December 2022) on a freelance basis. We estimate each episode will take four days of work (£200 per day), but spread out over two months in 1.5 hour chunks of work.

Series 4 will be eight episodes long (roughly one every two/three weeks). You will be responsible for creating two or more episodes of Series 4, depending on your availability, the availability of other producers, and the needs of the show.

For successful applicants, we would be willing to increase the rate of pay from Series 5 onwards on a freelance basis.
