Financial Times

Head of Audio

Posted 259 weeks ago

A full time position at Financial Times, London, UK

The Financial Times is seeking an innovative, entrepreneurial, collaborative head of audio. We seek someone with a passion for audio storytelling, great editorial judgment and a sophisticated understanding of audience. Someone with a wealth of ideas and the organisational skill and leadership to deliver on them. You have confirmed experience in conceiving and producing audio - ideally podcasts - and/or a rich background in audio journalism. You have an eye for great writing and apt edits, and an ear for compelling voices. You have a passion for all kinds of news topics, and an understanding and particular interest in FT journalism. Your role will be to help us achieve the next creative evolution of audio content for a Financial Times audience.

The role reports into the Head of audience and new content strategies, and sits within the Audience Engagement team, where audio will play an important role in helping us reach more broadly and engage more deeply with new and existing audiences. Audio journalism will also play an important role in better serving our existing audience needs, allowing them to discover and engage with FT journalism across their day and their needs - just as new technologies and new habits are changing the way audiences discover and consume news. You will be using data to understand the impact of our audio content, to gauge the success of our shows and our broader audio strategy, so you should feel comfortable with understanding and explaining analytics.

Overall, you will bring vision and a taste for experimentation, and creative thinking around ways to anticipate how audio can help evolve digital storytelling and Financial Times journalism.
